Common Rules for all classes

• Max weight 14,999kg including driver and fuel.
• No item, including ballast, may leave the tractor. Any item leaving the tractor and hitting the ground will be cause for instant disqualification of that run.
• No modifications or repairs permitted on drawbar.
• Drawbar must be standard to the tractor and fitted correctly in accordance with standard operating procedures.
• Must pull directly from draw bar, standard draw bar pin must be used, no 'D' shackles etc can be used.
• No rear weight packs/ballast permitted. Clear, safe access to drawbar pin must be provided.
• Modifications are defined as a physical inclusion or exclusion of parts native or not to the machine.
• Adjustments on standard configuration are acceptable provided they can be reversed on demand in the field.
• Competitors must stay within track confines. Any tractor (including sled) straying outside of track confines will have that result disqualified.
• False starts over 4mtrs are considered as the competitors run. Less than 4mtrs the competitor can stop and start again but sled will not be reset.
• No re-runs allowed unless required due to sled malfunction/error.
• No ground penetrating attachments are permitted.
• Safety is paramount. Any action, addition, omission or item that may cause a safety issue will be grounds for suspension of eligibility to run.
• TPNZ's decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into.
• Only standard drawbar pin, forged hook or ringfeeder, no 'D' shackles can be used.

Standard Class

Pull on Sunday, Plough on Monday.

• Standard tractors, material handlers, spray rigs, etc of agricultural origin without any changes.
• No modifications to engine, gearbox or injector pump
• The complete original 3 point hitch and p.t.o (if fitted originally) must be present.
• ROPS mandatory.
• Ear protection must be worn for non cab tractors
• Passengers must not exceed official seating capacity of the machine.
• No external passengers permitted.
• Adjustments on standard configuration are acceptable provided they can be reversed on demand in the field.
• Front end loaders permitted (including safely attached ballast).
• Any ballast deemed unsafe must be removed prior to pull or disqualification will occur.
• Only Single, Dual or Triple wheels are permitted.

Pre85 Class

• Agricultural tractors manufactured before 1st January 1985.
• No modifications permitted.
• The complete original 3 point hitch and p.t.o must be present if originally fitted
• ROPS mandatory regardless of if originally fitted or exemptions exist.
• Original rims or those of similar specifications.
• Ear protection must be worn for non cab tractors
• Passengers must not exceed official manufacturers seating capacity of the machine.
• No external passengers permitted.
• Adjustments on standard configuration are acceptable provided they can be reversed on demand in the field.
• Front end loaders permitted including ballast.
• Any ballast deemed unsafe must be removed prior to pull or disqualification will occur.
• Single or Dual wheels only are permitted.

• The tractor must originally be a standard agricultural farm tractor.
• Original motor (Block, pistons, head etc). Replacement motors from similar model of same brand acceptable but must pass scrutineering and not significantly alter the tractors standard configuration. Final approval of non standard motors will be decided by TPNZ officials whose decision is final.
• Turbo, Fuel Pump and cooling fan are the only non standard engine components permitted.
• Cross bolts must be present in exhaust on all turbocharged engines.
• Driveline (motor, clutch housing, gearbox, and rear end) must fit to each other without any extra spacers (unless originally fitted), flanges or welded parts.
• ROPS mandatory.
• Fixed wheelie bars mandatory. Must not be adjustable during a run.
• Standard draw bar pin or suitable alternative (rated) hook to be used, no 'D' shackles can be used.
• Dead-mans throttle or breakaway kill switch required.
• Maximum engine RPM not to exceed 3000rpm.
• Upgrades to standard clutch and extra safety measures acceptable but must be disclosed and approved prior to competition.
• Proof of component maybe required (Clutch etc) to pass safety scrutineering. Any tractor deemed unsafe by TPNZ officials will be disqualified and not permitted to hook onto the sled.
• No restrictions to tyre modifications (cutting, non standard, etc) but must pass safety scrutineering. Any tyres deemed unsafe must be replaced before hooking onto sled, failure to do so will disqualify entry.
• Helmet (open or full face) must be worn to pull.
• Safety belts mandatory and must be worn. Failure to wear safety belt during a run will be grounds to disqualify.
• Must still run diesel fuel only.
• Fuel shutoff valves and fuel type must be clearly labelled on all machines.
• Safety scrutineering form to be completed and submitted to competition officials prior to first pull. Failure to do so may be cause for disqualification.

Modified Class

• Any machine that does not fit into other classes.
• Proof of component maybe required (Clutch etc) to pass safety scrutineering. Any tractor deemed unsafe by TPNZ officials will be disqualified and not permitted to hook onto the sled.
• No restrictions to tyre modifications (cutting, non standard, etc) but must pass safety scrutineering. Any tyres deemed unsafe must be replaced before hooking onto sled, failure to do so will disqualify entry.

• Maximum engine RPM not to exceed 3000rpm for Diesel engines. Engines over 3000rpm require sheilds or shatter blankets of suitable material to contain any debris.

• For fuel other than Diesel and Petrol* drivers must wear suitable fire safety clothing.

*Drivers of petrol powered machines are encouraged to wear fire safety clothing.
